I’m fitting the primary chaincase inner cover to my Atlas and in the gasket set have a felt seal described as a “rear sprocket felt” part number 062889. Is this felt intended to fit over the gearbox mainshaft sleeve gear to prevent seepage from the chaincase or is it only used on the Commando? If it doesn’t fit there was is to stop oil leaking from the chaincase where the sleeve gear passes through it? Thanks for any help. Regards, Paul.
It does 'seal' where you say

Behind the clutch should be a pair of sliding discs, around 3" dia. These are recessed at the central hole for the felt ring to go into. Needs to go in before case assembly to bike.
There is also a felt ring that goes between the inner case and the footrest/case securing bit. This one can go in afterwards.

George
