Oil taps and filters and rear footrests.

Forums

Hello All,

I would be grateful for any advice/pictures of where and how people have fitted taps (I bought on from those Feked people but cannot see how it will fi--especially with the tap lever in the way of the kickstart (ironic as everything else seems to be in its way--or was until I spent ages with the torch).

I have citroen type filter block of the sort I have fitted to all my bikes and am looking for somewhere to put it. I tend to go for places that appaull classic bike owners as I like them to be accessible as I use all my bikes foreveryday transport (whether I will the Navigator I do not know) but I have have always had reservations about having them down low etc (don't really know why).

On another front--is there anything unorthodox about Navigator rear footrests? I did not get any with my bike and the spares scheme does not seem to have any.

As far I can see--the exhaust brackets bolt onto the back of them--but the drive side one does seem in the way of the brake rod.

Thanks in advance

John, can?t help with taps and filters- I haven?t fitted ones.

Brake rod: Here you see I made a bend in the rod to get it clear of the rear footrest.

Likewise I haven't any taps or filters. Here is a picture of the Norton rear footrest. It is tapered to give more clearance to the brake rod but a universal type footrest will do the job.

Hi John,

I have fitted an anti wet sump valve, pic attached. As a reminder to turn it on before I leave the garage I put a note on the choke lever after closing the valve.

Dave.

I fitted a Citroen type filter I bought from Paul Goff to my Electra. I made a bracket to attach it to the two bolts fixing the centre stand stop bracket to the centre section channel. It is a pretty tight fit ,the bottom of the filter is about 1/4"clear of the centre stand cross brace and about 5/8" clear of the back tyre. So far so good I've done about 300 mls since without a problem. Can send you the sketch of the bracket if you want.

I bought the same tap from Feked but I could not find a way to fit it that worked so I gave up! The tap is so big that it would not sit anywhere that worked.

Tap for sale - £10 plus postage Cry

In desperation I might fit a sump plate with a drain plug as sold in the NOC shop but they are expensive at over £45 I think.

Hllo Dennis,

Me too!--there a picture above of one in use mind. I bored a hole in my sump plate and brazed a bush into ti to suit a 5/16 drain plug. I have other bikes that wet sump (BSA B40 and a Triumph with a Morgo pump).

The Triumph smokes when it starts--after only a few hours--not that much oil has drained in the sump.

Cheers

JPA
