Why would you NOT use modern technology when it is available.
I have been using http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-3908-silkolene-super-4-20w-50-semi-synthetic-4-stroke-oil.aspx
for a few years now. Not noticed any difference to the old 'Classic' 20-50 but what would you expect.

you are lucky chaps, I doesn't have a dipstick, well not on the bike anyway, what I do have is a strip of opaque plastic pipe to the frontal rear of the tank which would appear to be as much good as a one legged man at an ass kicking contest!. kind regards

I guess you have a fastback tank with the sightglass to check the level, as you say as much use as a chocolate fireguard. I soft soldered mine shut years ago. If you could find a good way to seal a glass tube in place that was tough enough to withstand the rigours of the situation then the sightglass would work I suppose.

Richard. This is a huge subject, which has been covered pretty exhaustively on these pages before. Can I suggest you use the search box to look up previous posts, rather than attempt to go through it all again?
