Manuals needed

I would get the woolwich  manuals and  a Haynes would be usefull but does have errors.

A couple on E bay  green covers issued from Plumstead  £10-15  tatty is ideal , they all go that way.

I bought a spare parts list for 1959 models from RGM

1959 is a popular year for online Norton Parts Books and Manuals. Many as free downloads..

The Club sell photo copies of the original parts list and a copy of the Twin Cylinder manual

I have attached a copy of the cover of the manual referred to above.

It's the genuine Norton Maintenance Manual and Instruction Book and covers most models.   The reference no is P/106/P and is usually available from the usual three main parts suppliers or on line auction sites.

Confusion is where it's referred to as Plumstead or Woolwich as at this time Norton had moved from Bracebridge Street to the AJS factory in Plumstead Rd Woolwich.

If you are looking for the correct 1959 manuals, the Publication nos. are PS 206 for the Spare Parts List and P 100 for the Maintenance and Instruction manual.

You could try Russel Motors as i remember seeing brand new P106/P manuals there a few years ago, so they may some left. There is also the auto-jumbles as these parts books and manuals are always for sale as original items or copies. There is also Elk Publications, so Julie Diplock's company may have what you want. There is also the F.W.Neill book the Norton Service & Overhaul Manual, which is really the copies of the factory P106/P, and the workshop manual, all in one book. It was published by Lodgemark Press and many Norton dealers sold it. so it may be still in stock with them. 

I’d also recommend the club gearbox and engine videos.

Have you thought about attending your local East York’s Branch meetings. There will be a wealth of knowledge, assistance etc that may be very helpful to you as well as meeting a nice bunch with common interests ?

PS  would you perchance be related to the Sean Maslin I went to school with at Drax in the late 60’s ?

Norton parts books back then were not that good for pictures, as the other makes had far better parts books. The BSA, Triumph and Royal Enfield parts book were far more comprehensive. That picture of the twin engine was used for so many years in the parts books. It only got changed when John Hudson asked Les Apps to draw a later edition of the Norton twin engine. Les did this in his own time which he explained to me after i interviewed him a few years back.
