This is Wassell and their purchase of the rights to use the Lucas name on any old crap.

I would send it back and instead purchase one from TMS Motorcycles, I have been using their harnesses for years and have one from 25 years ago still going strong with no faults.

The TMS ones are made by http://www.autosparks.co.uk/ who make and market Car harnesses but leave TMS to market the motorcycle ones.

I also have used one from Andover Norton which fitted well but within a week the fuse holder was playing up, I change them all anyway now to blade type but expected better.

Well its nothing like the old wiring colour s.I`ve been playing with the wiring and got it sussed out now, so if anyone having the same problem.WHITE/RED to GREEN/RED . BROWN/GREEN to BLACK/GREEN. LIGHT-GREEN/BROWN to GREEN/BLACK.

hello Well I bought a model 88 wiring loom it turned out to be for the Model 7 I rang TMS and they saidthey're all like this we I said the model 88 are not wiring the same way as the model7, he then tells me that all they have. so it's a case of sort it out our self-mate is was the same with my 650 to wrong wire in the wrong places I had to strip the loom and start again and there is no purple in a 650 wiring loom like what I had and two other colours I did not need as well, where do they get this wiring looms from do they not know there are 3 differentwiring looms for the 650 depending on year yours anna j

I sell a wiring kit, it was envisaged with the featherbed special in mind, as of course with Tritons etc the electrical bits can be anywhere! You get a bag of wires the right colours, a bag of connectors, some tubing, some loom tape (non sticky!) a decent fuse holder and a colour chart showing what each wire does. I've always said by the time you have sorted out a remade loom you could have wired it from scratch and understood it.

Yep, as John Holmes says above. Wassell use the name LUCAS to usually sell cheap Indian or other low grade items. They sell the stuff in nice green original and authentic cardboard boxes which gives the impression you are buying good quality but you can nearly always buy better if you search....HOWEVER....the wiring harnesses are sold as being made in the UK and from the photos look pretty decent!

Many of the better harnesses use wire that is known as "Thin Wall" type. This is designed with a high quality insulating plastic that as the name suggests is thin so saves space when lots of wires are clustered together but the copper quality is good and available in many amperage ratings. You need to go for the 25A stuff or even 33A for the important main wires especially if you are making one for 6V electrics. Also use direct earthing with thick wires rather than rely on metal work on the bike. My Norton's 6V halogen bulbed system with home made harness has brighter lights than many 12V classic machines.

PS...This seller's stuff seems to be good....note the 2.0mm thin wall cable (25A) ...decent price too....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Norton-Singles-ES2-Model-18-Wiring-Harness-Loom-37-to-47-NEW-/191888666519?hash=item2cad74af97:g:psEAAOSwnNBXUtP9...Les

i bought some wire to finnish the wiring on me bike tried to solder it just to make a better job than crimping the wires in the connectors. it wouldn't solder as i found out later the wire turned out to be copper coated aluminum.
