Jubilee Head Lug cover

Forums

I have been asked by a member: "How do I fit the Jubilee Head Lug cover, without the steering stops hitting it?". The head lug cover, that is.

I do not have a Jubilee here to photograph. He (Dave E) is also asking cable routing. His forks are the early type with the h/light suspended from the fork crown.

The part (21550) is the same for all Jub & Nav, Std & D/L - (except for later Electra & Nav on the wider forks - there is a cutout for the steering lock).

So why is Dave struggling to fit it?

Ummm, upside down maybe - here’s mine that shows it only just clears the lock stops when fitted right way round, think it fouls the covers a bit if it’s upside down though

Bruce, what a stunner your bike is - shes's lovely! I magnified up you picture and it looks lihe yours have touched in the past as well

Dave E has fitted them the same way that you have, and they are on my Navi - see his pictures attached.

I'm going to my lockup in Bristol tomorrow, where I have a Jubilee hidden away to have a look at mine.

I’ve just been out to my shed and had a look at my rolling chassis. From what I can see your cover is sitting lower than mine, probably to try to miss the headstock bearing housing, in its correct position mine looks like it needs a spacer behind the top slot. Does it look like your slots have been elongated?  The top pic is me positioning the cover so it sits below the headstock and fouls the steering stops.

I’ve got a feeling I had to lengthen the slots slightly, space the cover out a bit (to clear the top bearing housing) and “spread” the lower “ears” so it conforms with the tank to get the clearance I’ve got now. My cover wasn’t in the best condition when I got it though!
