How to refit advance/retard unit on Navigator

Forums

Hi

I have to fit the advance/retard unit back onto the machine but it is on a tapered shaft and has no spline and I can find no alignment markings to determine its position.

The bike is a navigator and unfortunately I have no manual

So can someone advise me how to fit it back correctly.

Thanks..Bob.

Hi Bob,

Following on from Tony's info. in case you didn't see it I attach a copy of Andy Sochanik's item in the Roadholder re; the Electra which may be of help. Note the timing for the Navigator is 24 deg before TDC not 30.

Dave.

Thanks Tony and Dave for their helpful replies but unfortunately my eyesight is failing due to ill health and I cant get it set up correctly myself.

Do you know of anyone in the club that lives near Sutton in Surrey (south London) that could set up the timing for me.

Thanks...Bob.

Hi Bob,

If you have a look on the inside back page of the Roadholder and find Surrey Branch, you will see the email address of Ken Rawlinson, the Surrey Branch Secretary.

He should be able to suggest some who would be able to help.
