Hot magneto - newly refurbished...

Forums

Not a good evening. I had my K2F refurbished at the same time as the mag for my 16H just 2 years ago.The 16H works perfectly, but this spring I fitted the K2F back onto the Dommie and retired the RITA.But now I'm back to hot mag failure. After about 20 miles it starts to misfire - and then cuts dead. After an hour or two it starts first kick.So what's up? RITA might have to make her return.I even wonder if the original condensor is lying there deep inside in parallel with the new solid one.Dommie is back in the garage in disgrace...

I would contact the person who did refurbishment. It may be that the new condenser failed. I read somewhere that if electrical comments last a few hours, they will probably last almost a lifetime. Failure in that first few hours is known ( I think ) as juvenile failure. You may have a case of that.

Thanks, Peter. Food for thought - and a bit of reassurance.I'm losing confidence in the bike at present! I'll do as you say - although then I'll have to get my daughter to drive behind with the trailer for at least 30 miles!

Hello Dave.... I would have a word with your refurbisher..... Alternatively you could try a 'brightspark' capacitor replacement . check out brightsparkmagnetos.com Colin
