I have a post '55 Dominator frame that has the small radius bend around the oil tank and I wish to cut this out and replace it with the radius to replicate the earlier frames. I've read in the Road Holder Library that this was reduced from a 8" to a 6" radius for 1966. I've contacted two Featherbed frame makers and whilst most grateful that they took the time to reply to me I am left a little confused. One will happily sell me the bent tubes whilst the other recommended that I didn't as replacing a section would compromise the frames rigidity. I must admit that I am struggling with that - as long as the tubes were sleeved inside at those joints and welded/brazed properly would it not make that area stronger?
