I'm putting a 1947 ES2 engine together at the moment. I've been looking at the design of the oil feed around the engine. The top end rocker shafts seem to only be oil mist fed as there is no supply or way of returning oil to scavenge. Someone has fitted a couple of what look like carb jets to the rocker box above the rockers. I wondered if this might be a veiled attempt to maybe put some extra oil into the rocker box. Too muck however would soon drain down through the valve guides with all the associated smokiness. Does anyone out there know if anyone has come up with a mod to feed and scavenge oil to the top end of these pre-war era engines.
