Hi, I'm trying to get the electric start working on my 64 Electra. I have a working starter motor, ratchet and cover plate. Does anybody have any of the other parts that they are willing to sell. The sprag clutch is particularly elusive. I know several items are available through the spares dept, but not worth buying until I can obtain the sprag clutch.
Thanks,Stew.

Thanks for reply Alan, if I ever locate a sprag clutch I may need your advice again, you obviously have experience in this matter.

Part numbers?
Stewart:
Do you have the part numbers of the items you are looking for?
If you do have the part numbers, give them to me and I will search my sources here in California.

part numbers
Hi Mike, thanks for your offer, unfortunately I don't have the part numbers. If anyone has a parts list and could provide the numbers and a list of parts for the starter mechanism it would be much appreciated as it's proving to be a bit of a jigsaw puzzle.
cheers, Stew

I have an Electra almost in working order, almost as although the starter turns IF we have a decent battery, the engine/sprag doesn't always catch hey ho.
So If you get some bits I can advise on some of the units failings, and fixits. I don't know what you mean by the ratchet nor cover plate. The motor is bolted via a set of sun/planet gears to the primary case back plate. There is a chain and tensioner and the sprag is built in to an assembly that sits astride the crank shaft. it is the sprag that seems to cause most grief.
