I saw in an earlier post that when using a new solid state rectifier in place of the big square one on anElectra that one connection goes to ground, the opposite corner connection receives current, and the other two corners are for AC. Referring to my new loom I have white, green and brown wires that lead to the rectifier. Do I connect the white and green to opposite corners of the new rectifier, place a new ground wire on the unit's "red dot" and connect it to the bike's chassis, and connect the brown one to the opposite corner from the ground?

Further- the original large 'duckegg' rectifiers were SELENIUM and often were 'broken' when they came out of the box as new stock. So replacing them with the correct Encapsulated Silicon one is a good move. BUT the original switched alternator unit as fitted to the Electra seem to work for many years BUT can easily over charge or under charge the battery, so either fit a genuine Lucas Zener diode (but they haven't been made for many years), and the 'replacement' ones are rubbish. Or fit a regulator/rectifier.

Thanks again for your help…
Thanks again for your help Alan. Ironically a friend gave me a modern regulator/rectifier that he bought but didn't use. But I had already installed a replacement regulator on my Electra. I was a little confused by the lettering on the three regulator/rectifier connections, so I just said thanks to the friend and put in aside. Now, based on what you wrote, I dug it out and need your help with how to connect it up. One connector is label A above a G. The center one has a B above a +, and the third has an A above a C. Do I just attach the wires from my loom to it the same way regulator is connected? In other words A goes to the A/G terminal, B goes to the B/+, and C goes to the A/C connection?
