Having used all of the normal means of removing hermatite et al from engines over the years with varying levels of success, I have settled down to a favourite of using the scalpel to remove the old gasket and cellulose thinners to remove the old gasket compound... until now! Last night when it came to removing some age and temperature baked red goo, the cellulose was further than an arms reach awayand some Lidl Baufix general thinners that I had bought was in front of me. So, what the heck, I gave that a go. It is about the best I have ever used - removing all of the goo quickly andwith minimum effort! It is not always available in Lidl - you have to keep an eye open for it as they change their stock constantly. Definitely worth a go, and you can even use it as brush wash (which it is also very good at!).
Good to know, but have you…
