Hi Ian,   Colour scheme for 1960 std 88 was most  usually  2 tone   ,red and Dove grey , with other options.  The Dove grey was a bit drab   so  some owners have gone for lighter shades . What scheme takes your fancy?. That year  you could order a range of colours ,that must have been a bit of an issue because they standardised  soon after.

Dove Gray in my opinion is RAL 1013  (And available)

The alternative silver is the last metalic before solid grey to match the original colour.

Roy Bacons Book refers to a 2 tone tank in 1960  with "Norton  Grey " top half and a Dove grey bottom.  I think that was a dark grey and not  Metalescent,  Not really helpfull !   And pretty drab ,  If I were building an 88  ,I would create an early SS with that lovely green/ dove combination.

In the early 1960s the Norton Model brochure colours and specifications quite often did not match what came out of the factory. Below is from Chapter 50 of the revised Dominator Service Notes -  2020 edition. Al Oz may be jesting about Canary Yellow as a good choice of colour but by coincidence this was an unpublicized 1960 option for the standard 99 model.

1960 Model 88: Cycle parts – Black. Tank upper Red or Black with Dove Grey to lower fuel tank,  guards,  chain cases and suspension units. Option of two-tone Dark & Medium Grey.

New tank shape with long badge to suit Slimline frame.  Optional Chromed guards.

1960 Model 99: As above. Some late models available with Blue tank upper.

1961 Model 88: Cycle parts – Forest Green, inc. upper tank, with Dove Grey to lower fuel tank, guards, chain cases/guards and rear units. Optional, Chrome guards.
