Cost of chrome platting

I have used Ashford Chroming in the past and have found their work to be first class.

I see from their site they now do a two way delivery service and free estimates, plus, you can send them images of the parts that need attention.

I got a quote from Ashford Chrome, it seemed a bit steep so I tried a bit of negotiating but got no response. Then I tried Quality Chrome, for whom I saw some pretty good reviews. Quality Chrome quoted a fair bit cheaper, and their final price came in about a third less than Ashford Chrome's: like Ashford Chrome, Quality Chrome had quoted from my photos, but found less work to do than expected so dropped the price by £100! Remarkable. The work looks beautiful, although it's only been back on the bike a few days so I don't yet know how it'll bear up.

Quality Chrome are in Hull, www.qualitychrome.co.uk, although I see they're on holiday until mid-August. Turn-around was a couple of months, I don't know how that compares. HTH

Prepare as much as you can as the cost comes from the labor to fettle the stuff. I use Derby plating (01332 382408) who do very nice work; not considered cheap, but bundle up a few parts cleaned fettled to your standard ( de burred de-seamed, chamfered etc.) and they do a lump price.

I always wire a washer to mine with a number and a list to go with it so there is no confusion. I would love a dip around the bottom of their tanks!!!!

I use a chap Aaron Walkinshaw 07729361502 he has Chrome plated and nickel plated for me 100% and a lot cheaper than big names. He is defo worth a call. Very good turn around time.
