Commando Mk3 rear master cylinder rubber seal

Forums

The dust cover on the rear master cylinder keeps being damaged by the kickstart pinch bolt head.
I've replaced this several times, but now wonder if there are any tips on how to prevent this.

Perhaps an alternative dust cover has been found to work, or changing the pinch bolt from a hexagon head to a button head Allen bolt.
Any ideas welcome.

Kick starting on the center stand doesn't help this, neither does soggy isos. All the Mk3s ive had, had this problem. Get the electric start reliable and it doesn't happen!

The bolt head looks correct, but there is quite a thick washer under the head.  I'll remove the washer when I replace the dust cover.

Peter, I'm not sure if the isolastics are soggy, how do you tell?  I've left them alone since getting the bike on the road a few years ago as everything seems good i.e. no vibration getting to the rider.

I have an upgraded starter, but always felt that when starting the engine from cold, first time each day I would use the kick start to help prolong the starter mechanism..
Thanks for the suggestions.
Philip
