I am contemplating servicing my mk3 forks, they are fitted with a hyde fork brace ,i have a couple of questions.
1Is there some way of testing springs are ok
2 Do the oil seals fit into top of hyde brace,if so what keeps them there or do they fit under the chrome extensions? they are at present on top of hyde brace but when they bottom out the seals tend to lift out.
3 is there a site I can go to on the web that describes the process of refurbishment?

Commando forks are pretty simple. If you have a manual, follow the instructions Haynes are the cheapest and have enough information to cover that job. If you have a Commando you really need a workshop manual. The seals are normally retained by the screw collar that also retains the top bush. If the seal is coming out it's not fitted properly I don't know what the arrangement is on a Hyde brace. Some after market fittings have a longer top bush or position the top bush higher, either way the seal should be retained in a similar manner. check out the technical pages on this website for details of spring lengths etc. Previously wrote:
