I recently fitted a pair of StayUp floats with aluminium needles to the MK1 Concentric carburettors on my 850 Commando, but could not achieve acceptable fuel levels in either. Believe me, I tried everything, to the extent that I became heartily sick of fiddling the float bowls off and on, more times than I can remember. Whatever I did, either the fuel levels came out too low, or the floats contacted the bottom of the carb body before closing the needle valve, thereby failing to close the flow of fuel. I contacted Burlen's customer support, and I have to say that their response has been stellar â after a bit of sending parts back and forth, they sent me a pair of float bowls with StayUp floats pre-set by them, and they are now fitted and functioning perfectly well. Credit where credit's due.
