The Lads have been whinging that I don't always cancel the indicators on the 99, so I have fitted a bulb in the HL shell ,thought it a simple thing to wire it into the supply from the blinker unit to the HBar left/right switch, Nope ! all that did was give me an indicator bulb and scotched the indicators.probably just the extra impedance getting in the way? must be a simple thing, or maybe that just me.

Goffys diagram is what I did (without the relay) ,it sounds like I need to connect one side of the lamp to both indicators and the other side of the lamp to earth. Can't see that to work ,both indicators will come on together?, lets see----.

The led cannot feed enough current to light a normal bulb, I use an alarm siren under the seat as even the flashing light was not enough. Scares pedestrians about to step out as they think I am a reversing lorry.

I use this relay, its +ve earth and with 3 terminals one of which is for a warning lamp feed max 5W which then just needs an earth wire. I have a Commando so it already has a warning lamp in that wierd method of feeding it from both sides but I use this extra terminal to feed a 12V house alarm siren. Other benefit is its electronic so does not slow down with the alternator speed/output.

On John's recommendation I fitted one of these electronic flasher relays. Got to be 10X better than any bimetallic strip jobbie. Warning light, constant speed flash rate, fit and forget.

See wiring schematic on his site for correct hookup. Nice piece of kit I think. Otherwise a diode will need to be adde to your existing set up.
Copied from Pauls site:
INDICATOR WARNING LIGHT LED
The indicator warning LED gives a green light.
Mounting needs just one 12MM hole with holder, or 8MM without. With the holder it fits the warning light holes on later Lucas headlamps. The kit comes with everything needed + instructions, easy to install just 3 wires to connect
This can be used for conventional or LED indicators
12V negative earth only.
