I replaced and adjusted the bleed air screws on my twin 32mm Amals with good results but I was getting persistent rich mixture on one side, evident from plug inspection after a run when one plug was quite black. I’ve just replaced both needles and needle jets and both plugs are a nice tan colour (photo). The needles didn’t show obvious wear but I guess that the tolerances are very fine.
Just the jets

I have found that ancient…
I have found that ancient discarded needles are slightly fatter and run better than newish ones , And new 106 needle jets are not 106 at all. They are made 1065. All most puzzling.I thought these things were critical !!.

It may be...
... that quality control on the new carbs is not as good as it was back in the days when Amal were in Witton.

Needles don't wear significantly but jets do, some more than others. When I was doing frequent big mileages, replacing the needle jets was a fairly regular occurrence.
