I need a speedometer for my 1966 Atlas restoration, anyone know if a Smiths SSM5001/00A 1600 is a suitable alternative to the original? I’m having difficulty finding a used original fitment SSM3001/00A at a reasonable price but the 5001 seems more plentiful. I believe the SSM3001 is a 1600 revolutions per mile unit as is the 5001.
Thanks in advance for any help, Paul.

I rang the speedo restoration guy A E People, he told me he could take a magnetic 1600 core with clockwise needle and redial it to any magnetic 1600 clockwise needle speedo. What he could not do is convert a non trip meter core to a trip meter speedo, but he could go backwards and drop the trip meter. Based on that I sent him a B25 1969 speedo and he sent me it back as a 1965 T120R speedo, both 1600, both trip meter, both clockwise needle.
