Just purchased a RGM Motors solid state alternator rectifier regulator which I intend to fit to my 850 MkIII, and am not sure how to wire in
the connections, it looks to me that I can use the three original rectifier connections as long as I disconnect both zener diodes and isolate
the wires. I hope that some one has some experience with this.

Hi, As this is an 850MkIII…
Hi,
As this is an 850MkIII it will only have two wires coming up from the alternator, these will currently go to to the rectifier and also to the zeners, you need to remove the wiring to the zeners and remove the wires from therectifier. The wiring that used to go from the alternator to the rectifier then goes onto the input to the new regulator.
The red wire from the regulator goes to ground and the black wire will go to where the third wire was on the rectifier. This will then go off to the negative on the battery.
So yes, use the three original wires, isolated from rectifier and zeners.

There will be three similar coloured wires that will connect to the alternator, and two others, probably red and black, Red goes to earth and the positive side of the battery and black will go to the negative side of the battery (and the ignition switch). the zeners can be removed along with the two other diodes that formed the original rectifier and the wires taped up. You might consider fitting a battery monitor LED. I got one off ebay from a company called Gammatronix for less than £10. it has several display options and includes a mounting bezel. It's the biz.
