I have a 1935 CS1 which I am gradually rebuilding.
I am glad to say that it is very original with the correct engine, gearbox and frame nos.
According to factory records the bike was first delivered to Alexanders of Edinburgh who had branches in Edinburgh and Glasgow known as J.R. Alexander & Co. They were taken over by Cowies in 1960 and subsequently went out of business about 10 years later.
On the rear mudguard of the bike outlined in the paint is the impression of a semi elliptical badge and two small holes which I surmise could be the ghost of an Alexanders dealer badge fixed by two screws...
Does anybody know what this is or give any indication as to what it looked like so that I could fabricate a copy?
Any ideas gladly received.
Regards
Nigel Patch

Wow that is fantastic! I searched on google but didnt come up with this.
However, the outline of the plate you illustrate is not the same as the outline on the mudguard of my bike and on following up your google, it turns out that there was an Alexanders of Edinburgh that supplied farm machinery with no mention of bikes. Hence the Fordson note on the decal plate.
The Vincent owners club has a similar enquiry to mine as J.R. Alexanders & Co also supplied Vincents in Edinburgh and Glasgow from 1935.
The search goes on...
