Air filters for early Commando

Forums

Does anyone know of any air filters (available in the UK) which will fit the early Commando with Amal 900 carbs and 46mm connections? I'm sure the original system was best but that's just not for me. I would prefer the pleated conical or oval type. I had the single K&N with twin connections but fancied something a bit more bling, but that still does the job. The carbs are so close together they overlap slightly, which only leaves about 67mm between centres, so most of the after market ones are too wide at the base to have two side by side.  I thought there would be dozens to choose from but havent found one yet.

Graham,

I don't know if I'm barking up the correct tree here but the oval air filter fitted to earlier Commando models housed a Crossland filter, its original  fitment was for a Caterpillar 888. I don't know if this is what your machine has but I suppose some information is better than none at all? As far as I know this filter is no longer available.

Never mind. I actually managed to hammer and force a pair that I already had that were too big on :-)
