Restoring 69 S code. Clutch siezed. Tried starting in gear and foot on brake etc.
Stripped out and cleaned plates with petrol
No horrors. Plates just gummed together
Re-assembled. All good.
Clutch cable fell out of the gearbox lever. No big deal. Just re-attached.
Now clutch does not work. I think something fell out or detached on the operating lever side as it does not look right inside the gearbox side
Could someone show me what is wrong or fell off. Images would be good too.

I think that the clutch actuating arm is too low and is as far forward as it can move, possibly because the ball bearing that it pushes against is missing or misplaced. You would have tor. emove the outer cover and the clutch mechanism to put it right. Hope this helps. Andrew

Seems to work fine but I'll recheck when I need to drop off the gearbox cover. It may be soonish as the gearbox oil is old and I cannot see a drain plug.

Actuator Arm Drawings
You may need to completely slacken off the clutch pressure plate adjuster in order to pull up the actuator arm if this is the problem. Attachments show positions and workings.

Thanks Phil on the release lever pix. I have a few but the X-ray view one is very good to show the linear travel at the ball end while doing a rotation at the roller end resulting from cable pull .
Describing it without seeing it is often more difficult to envision.
I copied them as a future training aid.
It merits going in the Technical/Commando /clutch area . The other articles are somewhat obsolete.

operating lever had slipped down. Needs pulling up to the position shown on the image.
Still not sure how it works but..
