Hi,
Restoration of my 37 civilian 16H hit a snag when I noticed that the rims aren't really running true and are quite banged up. So I took them to a wheel builder but he called and told me that the cost would be roughly £350 - £450 and there is no quarantee that the old spokes will survive even a year.
The hubs are in great condition so I thought I would purchase new spokes and rims but got confused about the different types available. Could someone please explain to me the difference between the equal and unequal hubs and do I need the cotton reel type rims or something else? So I wouldn't buy the wrong rims.
From the manual and forum I found that I need
Drive side: 8/10 i.w.g. butted spokes, 8 1/32" long with head angle of 90 degrees.
Timing side: 8/10 i.w.g. butted spokes, 8 5/32" long with head angle of 90degrees
spokes and that there is 40 spokes on a rim/hub.
Also if someone knows a good place to buy them from that will ship within EU I would really appreciate it.

The description "cotton reel" just describes the hubs, both of which are the same. The rims are WM2 in 19 inch diameter, just like lots of other bikes. There are several UK suppliers. Central Wheels, Hagon, Devon Rims are all well known. I think drilling must suit the application but they should know about that.
