Hi there,
Im in the process restoring a 1957 inter and found the Lucas badge loose inside the headlight. There were the remains of what looks like a rubber grommet stuck to the casing but I don’t think that’s right. I’ve seen a couple of nicely restored bike but both have some sort of aluminium ring holding the badge and both were different, are these home made or are they available to buy? Also, the badge is a close fit in the hole, is that right.

PHEW!! Niall isn't kidding about the "NortonBits" price for the headlamp medallion! £40 + £3 postage! Thanks for the tip about a boxfile ring. I might give it a go.

Lucas headlight badge
I couldn't bring myself to pay the price asked on eBay so had a go at making one. I had a piece of aluminium spare and have a very basic lathe. It came out ok

RGM is selling them
At RGM, they sell them for 12 pound.
I glued mine back though, after the 'click' had gone.

A gentleman on Ebay called "Nortonbits" sells the medallions with the aluminium mounting ring fitted, you just push it in and they click, be warned though, they are very expensive, part no 06-8806 .
What I used to do was find an old box file, with the right sized metal ring in the finger hole, and make that fit.
