A clutch question

Forums

Hi there. A clutch question. Need to buy new steel plates and new friction plates. Apparently there are different types of plates (both steel and friction). Which is to prefer inner tags on friction plates and outer tags on steel plates or vice versa What I have been looking at is original plates. The bike is a Norton Atlas 750 1964 Mvh Mikael Ybert Sweden

Mikael and Phil - I don't like to sound as I like to find fault but if Mikael's Bike is a '64 Atlas then the original clutch would have had eleven plates - therefore the friction plates are slightly thinner than those in the nine plate offering you depict.   Cheers, howard

Some of the official exploded drawings showed the clutch race (item 4) incorrectly  ,I don't remember well, think it was back to front . Watch out for wear on the outside of the spring cups, they can break and hang up.
