I ave a clutch slip problem on a 72 759 and need to remove the clutch plates to clean them off and remove oil from them. I can get the pressure plate (with the correct tool)and the first two plates off using a magnet but the others I cant get off by that method. Any suggestions or methods for removing the rest of them would be much appreciated.
Cheers Nick

Plates get gummed up with oil. Thin wire with end made into a small hook you can get round the edge of each plate does the trick. If clutch slip still present after cleaning off plates and adjusted correctly probably need a new set of friction plates - have experienced this a few times over 50 years with three Commandos.

Corkscrews
A couple of corkscrews work very well. Espescially the one on a swiss army knife.... Odd but true!

Gravity
It may not work, but perhaps try blasting a "brake cleaner" degreaser behind the plates. I usually put the bike on the sidestand and give the clutch drum a few taps with a hide mallet. They only have to let go of the drum backing plate. They don't have to come out one by one.

You can get a piece of thin wire, e.g. locking wire, past the plates and hook 'em. Or try putting it on the sidestand and spinning the centre - they often fall out.
