Hi - I've been gradually reducing the number of leaks around the head of my '74 Mk2 Commando. I've had cracks in the head welded, impregnated etc. and the situation has improved greatly over the years.
One of the last problem areas is around the spark plugs. The RHS is really quite wet with puddles around the base of the spark plug. The LHS is drier and less obvious.
I know about the normal culprits: valve covers and rocker spindle covers but these don't seem to be the cause.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I've attempted to attach a photo.
Cheers - John

I suspect you will need to…
I suspect you will need to take the head off and use a thin bead of high quality sealer around the bolt holes on both sides of the head gasket.

A favourite is the inlet…
A favourite is the inlet rocker cover stud, oil not only goes backwards onto the air filter and side panels but amazingly is also drawn forward through the centre of the head under the rocker box and out around the spark plugs and even to the front edges of the fins. The shouldered nut should have an alloy washer under it but it’s also advisable to use silicone sealant under the washer and around the shoulder. You wouldn’t think it possible but it happens.
Regards Al.
