Hi Scott
the engine number can be found on the primary side crank caseon the flat just below the barrel
the frame number is found on the timing side pillion footrest lug these are very faint and when painted over may be difficult to see however sanding the paint off may/will remove the number be careful

You'll like this-casualy looking in my log book for the Electra I though that frame number looks a bit odd? Went out to the foot rest lug and as you say there is the number and as you say they are faint. Now the Electra starts EL, due to faitness the bottom lines of the E and L had nearly gone.....so someone had read it wrong and got that number in the log book. I had a Norton F1.....made in 1964 ....seems a fair spoof!!

Thanks, guys! Found them easily once I cleaned 40+ years worth of engine grease and road grime away. Seems I have myself a nice little numbers matching Electra. EL/231. Now I just need to confirm my hunch that it's really a '63, and not a '64, as was originally told. Best to you, Scott
