I'm putting a new wiring harness on my 1959 plunger ES2. There's a single WHITE cable which runs from the headlamp shellareawith a female bullet all the way back to 3/4 the length of the bike, ending with a ring terminal. I can account for all the wires except this one. Does anyone have any ideas what it's for? Needless to say, the colour coding of the new harness bears no relation to my 60 year old wiring diagram. Hi Michael, this spurious wire is on the NEW harness, but I take your point all the same, it seems the most likely explanation, especially as it's a ring terminal at that end.
Thanks,

That's the trouble with allegedly original looms-lots of anomalies. I have always said that by the time you have worked all these out you could have wired the bike properly-no wires in the wrong place or wires the wrong colours.
I think your stray WHITE wire could be magneto kill. When I supply a wiring kit, if it is Negative earth the earth is black and I supply a WHITE mag kill wire (Black Mag Kill with Positive earth)
If you want to sort out any other anomalies with your wiring please get in touch direct.
Cheers Al Osborn.
