Just run the Atlas for the first time since rebuild. I have 2 different tighten down patterns. One in the old Woolwich manual and a very different one in the Haynes thats repeated by Dunstall. Any Thoughts?, Normally I would ignore the Haynes , but then not over impressed by the early Woolwich efforts with the Norton Engines either!!.
Thanks George, interesting ,…
Thanks George, interesting , so its Hobsons choice then !. At least the Atlas now has compressions that feel equal both sides and does not leave a smoke trail. It clatters a bit more than it did ,perhaps the drag resistance of the new rings makes the piston rock a little more. Also filled it up with what 15/40 car oil was in the garage. An early change to 20/50 or 40 classic may damp it down.
