1953 Dommi 88 DeLuxe Paint pattern & colour.

It may pay for you to get the records officer to check your bike. 

I was going to paint my 1953 Model 88 in polychromatic grey as detailed in Bacon and also as shown in my 1953 sales catalogue. 

However when I did the factory records check,  the machine was despatched from the factory to the US and the colour was recorded as black. When I  got it, the rolling chassis was actually black. 

hello  now for the 1953 models most were export bike and painted in  red or light polychrome blue and both looks very nice in these colours now polychromatic grey is a dog to get right and touch up  as the late 53 to 54 had not as much chrome on them as the later  Nortons  as at that time there had been a nickel shortage   and  red Nortons look nice  and being a plain gloss post office red  you can still get today  and it's easy to live with   compared to  polychromatic grey  witch early model had a gold sheen to this colour which makes that bit harder to do right as its metallic  paint  in cellulose  my early 54 was in red originally  but made that big mistake of doing in in standard polychromatic grey  witch every one as done  wrong  by going with VW platinie grey, witch is for later models from56 on is like the seats  some of them are wrong to  the early Norton had the piping all way around the top edge of the seat  not just at the back like the later models  and export seats were in grey and some in black  this depend on the finsh of the model  but in the end, it's your bike and your choce  black and chrome would look good to  witch some werein this colour as well,  yours  anna j
