Speedo and jet advice

Forums

Can someone let me know where I can get a speedo in working order and good condition for a 1929 Big 4.

Or where I can get one overhauled.

Also I have asked for help about my 1950 16H re hard to start when warm.

I have now lowered the needle in carb to lowest point this has made a difference but it is still far too rich.

It is at least starting a bit better, After a few kicks the petrol is being blown out through bell mouth.

Any ideas, should I change the jet I think it is a 160 It is not a mag problem. The rear stand is covered in black soot from exhaust.

It will still give you a good kick back unless you retard it some.

Thanks Robert.

HiRobert can't help with the speedo, but try this tip: Do not apply any throttle at all to start. Just kick the engine over smartly. You may well be amazed that the bike starts easily this way, and quite often the first kickand you it will almost be guaranteedno kick back! You must However make sure the bike ticks over reliably when started though, so spend a few minutes getting the tickover right, by adjusting the pilot jet and throttle stop carefully. Sometimes better not to hold the throttle as to avoid the temptation to apply some gas. Try it and see how you get on.
