I am currently building a replica of a 1962 500 Manx and a while ago whilst getting the parts together I purchased a 5 speed Quaife gearbox and a Bob Newby clutch and belt drive kit to suit the Manx. More recently I have been putting these parts together and I think I have a problem with the gearbox mainshaft in that the whole thing was sold to me as a gearbox with a Manx mainshaft but would appear to be a commando item.
The mainshaft has a circlip groove at the base of the spline that the clutch fits onto and I believe now that the Manx item has no circlip groove and a slightly tapered spine.
Can anyone give me any advice on this please?
