I am about to start the restoration of a 1938 ES2, can anyone recommend a supplier (if any exist) of parts for older Nortons? I am new to bikes of this age so welcome any advice comments!

If you find one (supplier)…
If you find one (supplier) let the rest of us know!!!!! The normal approach is to find a parts book and go to the auto jumble's. NOC spares can be very helpfull but may not have a lot to offer. Word of mouth and e-bay are the other sources.

Sadly, with the demise of Dragon motorcycles (his stock went to Bantam John but I don't think that there is much left now), we have very little.
Russell Motors can be useful for parts which are common to WD models.
It remains a puzzle that Norton singles have no equivalent of Draganfly for Ariels and BSAs.
RGM has some parts that will fit (transmission etc) and Mike Pemberton will know how to source most engine parts.
Jake Robbins can repair or remake any girder fork parts and the usual Lucas / Smiths / Amal parts suppliers are not unique to Norton.
The best advice is not to throw anything away as it can usually be repaired more economically than finding another. It goes without saying that pre-war Norton parts are considerably more expensive than most other makes.

I recently had a really nice tool box made for my 37 ES2 which is gradualy coming together. I did ask the chap if he wanted me to tell the world about the lovely box but he has stacks of work and didn't want to take anythingelse on that he couldn't deliver on within a reasonable time frame.
However,I there is a lot of demand I can tell him that he could sell a batch if he made some up. If you need one Nigel and there are other NOC folk who need one (same as 16H I think but with different catch) then I will see what I can do.

Hi All, I agree, there are…
Hi All,
I agree, there are now very few people supplying parts for ES2's, but I can do some parts, as well as the SOHC Cammy Norton parts I also do at the moment.
Try emailing me - paul.norman@racingvincent.co.uk if you are not sure. Most of the parts I do are to fit Norton SOHC engines, but I can do some chassis and fabricated parts, including repro toolbox's.
best wishes,
Paul Norman

Hi.
I can thoroughly recommend Paul Norman's website. In addition to Richard's list I can add:
Stu Rogers - no website but a comprehensive catalogue of parts mainly for Inters and Manxbut loads of SS fittings to the original specand other partswhich werecommon throughout the Norton range- 01945 585116
Domiracer - in the USA - look up their website - it's surprising what they sometimes come up with!
Conucopia enterprises - website.
British only Austria - http://www.vintage-motorcycle.com/index.php?language=en&site=4&pid=37
Hope this helps.
Ian.
