Camshaft bush reaming

Forums

Hi All.

I am currently rebuilding a '75 850 mk3 and have fitted replacement camshaft bushes, as the old ones were quite worn. I was reluctant to do this as I know that replacements should be line reamed, but the clearance in the old bushes with a new camshaft was too great to ignore.

Now that I have fitted the new bushes, it is evident that they will definitely need reaming. I don't have the facilities to do this accurately and wondered if there was anyone who had the facilities that could help? I have approached a few local machine shops and none are interested in doing the reaming. I am based in Dorset, but could travel if required.

Thanks in advance!

Try T&L Engineering in Bedford, as they do all this type of bike and car engineering work. They also do the K Line relineing of valve guides, so that you do not have ot replace your valve guides.

Norman White did mine at his Thruxton workshop. Not sure if he is still doing customer work, though. Does anybody know?

A quick edit. Just checked his website, http://normanwhite.co.uk and all seems ok.
