Hello,
currently I am working on my 1965 Jubilee to get it running. The odometer says 1600 miles and I believe that could be correct. I called her "Tequila Sunrise" because of the faded paint on the tank.
This picture was taken in April 2022 at the purchase. The bike sat for about 30 years. The cylinders and heads were removed because of a broken head stud. I replaced the stud an the motor is complete now. Also the exhaust systems are back on the bike.
I want to leave as stock as possible. I also want to keep the 6 volt battery and the wiring harness.
Using Photoshop I coloured a wiring diagram and added the second coil and spark plug in the diagram.
Feel free to use print it out and use it for your projects!
Lights and horn works, but I have no spark.
Measuring the current at the coils I found 0.58 volts,
also at the contact breakers.
I tested the coils which must have been replaced because they are made by Bosch.
They are intact and produce a spark in the test connected directly to the battery.
So I guess there must be a ground problem or broken wires in the old harness.
Will check an report.
Greetings
Uli
You're a braver man than I Ulrich...

With caution.
Use this diagram with caution. As Ian says converting to Lucas colours is a way to go.
What is wrong with this diagram? Several of the cable colours from the early 60s are no longer available, Transparent for the earth, is defiantly long gone. The RESISTANCE wire is another serious problem, I have seen several attempts to install this from a loom supplier, both dangerous!! In fact I can supply a decent resistor for this BUT you are advised to go 12V and electronic ignition this removes several problems straight away-no need for (dodgy) resistors, worn out advance retard, wandering ignition timing, over heating, vibration. Improved choice of battery, lighting, starting. battery charging. So why the insistence of originality?
PS Nothing wrong with original Wipac coils! Or even Wipac alternators.
In fact I CANNOT see that any loom maker could re-manufacture this and the Navigator loom (they are the same).

Wiring colours
Al, I take and agree with most of your points but -
I think Uli's article was to help anyone who still has, or gets, a lightweight with original wiring to decipher the electrical system. No use telling someone who has the original what the Lucas colours would have been except to allow them the change over to it. THEN BOTH sets of colours are NEEDED, so Uli's WILL also be helpful (and needed). Seeing a circuit in colour is easier to follow than in black and white, especially if they are not experienced.

Wipac Wiring diagram
As Stan pointed out my intention was to help people with this diagram. I looked around for a coloured diagram with no success so I made my own.
Al, my Navigator runs a 12 volt system with a Boyer ignition without any problems.
In the case of that Jubilee I want to keep it stock also the electrics to see how a stock lightweight runs. Maybe I am soon dissapointed and change it to 12 volts.
Currently I am looking for a source here in Germany for a replacement for the original WIPAC condenser. One is shot .

Wipac condenser.
The lack of a condenser is of course another reason to go 12V and EI. BUT if you must search for a condenser then-The value is not critical, in fact just about any points ignition condenser will do the job. You could then fit it on the outside of the ignition coil, but another way is, unsolder the metal bracket off of the original condenser and solder it to the new one. Or if you are very clever make a small bracket in brass and solder to the new one. Or of course go 12V, and keep the two 6V Wipac ignition coils.

Jubilee-Navigator wiring diagram in colour
Thank you Uli and Alan.

... I'm in the process of converting my Electra to standard Lucas colours as I find the Wipac ones confusing.....
