Can anyone tell me what the 1/4 cycle threaded hole on the welded to frame steering stop plate on my 68 650ss is used for as I can't seem to find any info for it's purpose.

I have a steering damper so…
I have a steering damper so I don't think that is it unless it's for a early type, but being a 68 I doubt it was a carry over. But that's a guess as I have seen them on atlas and murcury but nothing mounts to it. Just a mysterious threaded hole.

could be for an aftermarket hydraulic damper.
