Jubilee Fork Bushes

Forums

Anyone had any experience replacing Jubilee fork bushes?

Powder coater didn’t protect lower fork legs and trashed the bushes.

Managed to get some replacements just wondering whether it would be better to try to braze them on as per original spec, or I’ve heard of people using Loctite603/638 to secure them.

Read a couple of horror stories about trashed bushes trying to braze them.

All suggestions gratefully received!

I bought a set at an auto jumble a little while ago, and am pondering on the same thing although i was toying with using J B Weld if the fit was a bit loose but I can’t see why loctite wouldn’t work or more likely be better  603 seems like the right one to use. I’ve used 638 for steel bearings in the past.

... they'd be brazed as they're phosphor bronze. More likely soft soldered. However, I agree a loctite product would be the way to go. Velo Venom etc forks have soldered bushes and most people loctite replacements in.

As Ian says, soft solder for these fork bushes. I'm pretty sure you will be pleasantly surprised that a regular blowtorch loosens the joint. Norton used soft solder.

Somehow brazing and silver solder has crept into manuals.

Thanks for the input guys, yep I managed to get the old ones off with a blowtorch, far easier than I expected!

Have some 638, will give that a go!

Thanks
