Tap dominator slimline

The Dominators had only one tap so it has both main and reserve functions. Usually a Ewarts with  a single plunger that you pulled for main supply ,then for reserve turned and pulled again. These had a longer horizontal body with a special elongated plunger with a slotted brass nose. They were threaded 1/4 bsp threads and were a bit tricky to align with the gap between tank and frame rail. Sometimes found secondhand and always needing a new cork and possibly missing the tiny screw that is impossible to replicate. Some taps fitted with an elongated pull knob.  Some bikes fitted with a twin plunger tap for which there are modern copies around. I have a tap collection ( that sounds  a bit  sad!!).If you do find a tap with missing or damaged elongated plunger ,I can supply you one. ,as I have accidentally cornered the world supply! ( even more sad!)

No, not that easy. Wrong threads  etc.  I have looked for weeks and not found anything worth buying.

Ace Classics the Triumph company, can supply one of these petrol taps, as I bought one from them for one of my own restorations.

The Ace tap is similar to the one fitted to our Atlas . Can't say if it was an orriginal type fitting. The top thread needs to be 1/4 BSP to fit the tank.   Taps come with various size threads.

Any tap with 1/4BSP thread will do but get one with a lock nut so you can get lever in right position 

Any tap will do if you are not interested in orriginality and don't need a reserve. Orriginal single plunger main and reserve do come up for sale but you need to be patient and know exactly what you need and be prepared to overhaul the thing.You may finish up buying several taps before you understand  and you might need to build one from two.  I rebuilt my tap several times before it became reliable 3 years ago. Not touched it since but just in case rebuilt 2 more as spares !. Obviously I have some sort of tap fetish. Sometimes you just want to ride the dam thing  so I have committed the heinious crime of drilling out the metric  tank threads of the irriplaceable Ducati tank to fit british BAP taps.   I feel better now I have confessed.

Keep a good  election including the two pull cork Ewart type  (main and reserve with a twist).
