I see a few people from the NOC where doing the VMCCs relay rally, how did people get on?
I started at 24(East Sussex) then went onto 63(Surrey and Sussex), 7(Brooklands) and 27(Goodwood). Excellent days riding, clocked up 160 miles on the '34 Inter and it didn't miss a beat apart from fouling up a plug in traffic through Dorking. Got out the other side, opened it up and it cleared so didn't have to stop for that. Met some new people, saw some different bikes and ended up in places I've never been before. Excellent day out!

Been doing some mods and m…
Been doing some mods and maintenance on my slimline model 50 so decided to use the VMCC Relay (As I'm a member) to check it out.
Started at 42B, (North East Section) about 10 miles South of Thirsk where 29 riders had already passed through before me, then headed South East to Fimber, 25 (East Yorkshire) but never did see a 650 Manxman!!!!! 40 VMCC riders passed through Fimber. I headed home, filling up with BP Ultimate near the end of the ride. Total mileage 76. MPG 88.
I see the map is the same as last time with the same mistakes on it. Just check out 42A ! The Yorkshire Dales have been moved to the North Yorkshire Moors. Had two years to sort this out. Good job it wasn't sent out until after the AGM, but only just. Some of the checkpoints had no start and finish times, something else to think about but good to know there were at least a couple of Norton's about down south.

I filled my Inter up on Saturday and did about 30 miles, then 160 on Sunday and I wasn't even onto the reserve... It's a 4 gallon tank so I reckon I'm getting upwards of 50MPG. I'm suprised its that good with a TT carb!
The scenery was amazing, but the road surfaces themselves not so much. I have a '51 ES2 with plungers on the back so I can vouch for how much they improve the ride. Not as much fun as the Inter though!
I've got a long weekend in Warwickshire with the Inter this weekend (about 300 miles) and a long weekend in France with the ES2 the following weekend (about 400-500 miles at a guess). Then nothing booked for the rest of the summer, must get booked up on something!

Neil
There is a report of the East Yorks checkpoint & a nice pic of your bike - see
Glad you had a good day out - only managed Mid Lincs & East Yorks as had to be back for lunch - 133 miles. The Manxman has been spotted on the road this year but is a rare beasty!

Many thanks for the link,…
Many thanks for the link, Alan,
I thought it was quarter past when I arrived but no worries, my visit was acknowledged and appreciated.
The model 50 was built from bits, I wanted an OHV single to add to my Commando and 16H back then. The rolling chasiscame from a 1960 99 that had been in storage for years (I saved it from becoming a Tr*ton) and the engine from a 1960 model 50. The project was started in 1992 and on the road in 2000. Learnt a lot since then and hence f/bed projects don't take so long. Plenty of parts available helps, unlike for the pre F/bed I'm about to give up on.
I bought the engine as rebuilt from the man I bought it from, a John Hill from near Stafford and it's not missed a beat in near 5K miles. Lovely little smooth motor, as long as you are not in a hurry. John sold it because he managed to find an ES2 motor but I think the model 50 is the nicer motor, as long as top speed is not your be all!
If there was one improvement I could make it would be a 5thgear as an overdrive to make max cruising speed 75 instead of 60. Won't pull an extra sprocket tooth.......

Hi, AndyStarted in SW London, then 7 - Brooklands, 27 Goodwood, 63 Surrey and Sussex, 69 West Kent. 160 miles on a 16H.Shame number 34 opened a bit late and closed a bit early, so I ended up missing it. Didn't see your Inter - but the roads are a maze. And surfaces so poor that my Ammeter needle fell of. Minor disaster - it was the original meter. But now I know why Norton brought out a 500 twin.
