It is a 1962 Norton but came with the wideline seat, which I know is incorrect, all I want to know is how the wideline seat was fixed to the wideline frame.
Thanks for the reply, my fault ,I did not make it clear.

The seat base has two captive studs that are passed through the holes in the flat cross brace that is between the top rails. I think I remember that they are supposed to be secured with wing nuts (so that you can 'easily' access the tool tray) but mine just has plain nuts fitted. From memeory I think they are 5/16 BSC (ie 26 TPI).
To be sure you might want to post this question on the Heavy Twins message board - this is a lot more active and your question is model specific (althoughI guess the question is also relevant to the Singles board).
When I have a chance I will take a picture of my seat (it is a bit scruffy!) if you still need clarification

A slimline tank may not work well with a wideline seat. But would be fun to confuse the rivet counters.

The seat has been fitted to the byke since I got it some 30odd years ago,and it did not look to bad! It's not until I removed it I thought that it was not right, and thanks to the kind people on this site they confirmed it was a wideline seat,I now have a seat that is surplus to requirements, that's why I am trying to find out what it looked like before I respray it.
Thanks for the comment.

I was just wondering why its this wideline seat still a Question , when the Question as been answered , A wideline seat will not fit correctly as the frame rail at the rear end are very different and with the slimline there is no where to bolt the under side of the seat, and it looks totally out of line with rest of the bikes design, So get the right seat for the job,

Yes, that's what I intend doing, but before I can sell the wideline seat I need to know if it's been modified to suit the slimline frame, and change it accordingly, but until I know what a wideline seat looks like underneath,I can't do anything with it ,that's why I was looking for a photo. Thanks for your comment
