i wonder if any one can help ?
i am restoring a mk3 in my rush to dismantle it I forgot to make a note which way round the rubber pipes were fitted to the oil pump, I need to know which is the supply and which is the return,

Thanks you were right, I filled the pipes with oil the outer pipe took the oil the inner pipe pushed it out under cranking

Looking at the workshop manual (from 1970 - 750 and 850) theres a nice colour picture (Fig C29) that shows the duel connection tubes that fit to the engine, the one nearest the outside of the bike is the supply (blue) coming from the filter banjo feed off the side of the oil tank and the pipe to the inside of the bike is the return (red)goes via the filter then to the pipe just below the main oil tank filler neck.
